12 SECRETS FOR PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION (PART II)

PURPOSE: WHY AM I HERE?

“God has MADE US what we are. He has CREATED US in Christ Jesus to live lives filled with good works that he has PREPARED FOR US to DO.”
Ephesians 2:10 [Emphasis mine]

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, and to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

In our previous study, we looked at knowing who you are – your identity. In this study, we will focus on knowing your purpose. Identity deals with who God wants you to BE while purpose deals with what God wants you to DO.

Your purpose is what you were uniquely or specially made, created and prepared to do by God. Nothing will make God happy after your salvation like doing what he made you, created you and has prepared you to do.

There are seven (7) things you need to know about God’s purpose for your life:
o Purpose is the reason why you were born into your family, community, nation and this world.
o Purpose is the reason why you have survived the different challenges of life.
o Purpose is the reason why you have special abilities, gifts and talents.
o Purpose is the reason why you are highly intelligent, educated and skillful.
o Purpose is the reason why you have a special passion and desire to help a specific group of people.
o Purpose is the reason you have a different personality or temperament.
o Purpose is the reason why you are saved from sin and adopted as God’s own child.

Without purpose, God does nothing. You are here for a reason. God’s purpose for your life was designed before you were born into this world. You were born to fulfill that specific purpose here on earth.
Since God designed your purpose, only God can reveal the same to you. You can discover your talent but, God’s purpose has to be revealed by Him through His Word, His Spirit, His Servant and by any other means He chooses to use.
Nothing excites the devil like a man or woman who has money, marriage, ministry, good looks, degrees, connections and fame but lacks a clear understanding of God’s purpose for his or her life. The devil is always threatened by believers in Christ who have a clear understanding of their purpose and are committed to pursuing and fulfilling it.

There are eight (8) things to remember about God’s purpose for your life:
1. God’s purpose will always create an unusual discomfort or dissatisfaction in you for something He has enabled, equipped and empowered you to change or improve.
2. God’s purpose will always inspire (trigger) in you a special desire to always help a particular group of people (teenagers, children, couples, singles, single parents, undergraduates, graduates, artisans, villagers, retirees, old people, sex workers, prisoners, etc). If you pursue your God given purpose, it will lead you to peace, provision, and prosperity.
3. God’s purpose will always reach your emotion and unlock your compassion at the sight or hearing of something He wants you to do something about.
4. God’s purpose will always show you the gap or what is missing in a place or somebody’s life in order to add value to the place or person. It will give you an unusual ability to see what others don’t see (not for criticism) but for change or improvement.
5. God’s purpose will always create in you a special love for something or someone and it will release upon you an exceptional wisdom for such a thing or person. You will always have an unusual wisdom for what you love.
6. God’s purpose will always make you enjoy doing something even without being recognized or rewarded for it. Find what gives you joy, do it excellently and it will take care of your future.
7. God’s purpose will always cause people to remember and celebrate you. Give attention to what people always remember you for.
