The month of November has been a busy but eventful one in the Nigerian Senate. Lots of Bills were presented and a few other motions passed. Out of all the Bills presented, a number of them also passed for second reading.

8 Things in October: An Overview of the Senate's Legislative Activities

The past weeks have been filled with lots of activities in the Red Chamber. These activities ranged from the recently concluded Ministerial Screening and Confirmation to lots of other Legislative matters.
Despite all the happenings and long hours of plenary activities, the Senate still had the interests of Nigerians at heart. They attended to other Legislative Businesses, which saw the Presentation of Bills and Motions and other matters that affects the everyday Nigerian.

Ministerial Screenings: The Senate Must be Thorough

Since the swearing in of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29th, 2015, the need to have appointed ministers running the affairs of Nigeria’s federal ministries, and the eagerness to know who will make Buhari’s executive line-up has haunted Nigerians.

According to Chapter 6, section 147, subsection 1 of the Nigerian Constitution, it is mandatory for the President to appoint ministers. However, the Constitution does not specify a time that this appointment must be carried out.
